Top 5 Post-whatever releases of 2022

For the second year we combine Post-Metal and Post-Black Metal releases in this category as both genres nicely combine fragility with unrivaled aggression. This year we had some excellent releases in these genre's and here are our picks for 2022:

Honorable Mention: E-L-R - Vexier (2022)

Perfectly blending some of our favorite genres like Doom, Shoegaze and Post-Metal, this release was a true gem in 2022.

Honorable Mention: Solipsism - Our Night Never Ends (2022)

Another brilliant, different, and kind of weird release from Sun & Moon records that made it on our 2022 lists.

5. SOM - The Shape Of Everything (2022)

Extremely melancholic and highly engaging EP from members of bands like Junius and Caspian.

4. Stjärnfält - Lapporten (2022)

Funky, highly atmospheric, and yet desolate, this release was one of most unexpected best Post-Black Metal releases of the year.

3. Cailleach Calling - Dreams of Fragmentation (2022)

An interesting pairing of musicians created on of the most dreamy and yet powerful releases of 2022, so if you haven't heard this one, don't waste another minute.

2. Kardashev - Liminal Rite (2022)

There is just something very original and highly engaging about Kardashev's sound and in this full-length they greatly take advantage of their atmospheric brilliance.

1. Karg - Resignation (2022)

Not only is J.J. blowing up with his other band Harakiri for the Sky, Karg also unleashed on fine example of aggression and melody in 2022, great enough to top of list this year.
