The Machinist - Towers (2026)

Hailing from the UK, today we have Industrial Death/Black Metal outfit The Machinist with their latest EP “Towers”. Featuring a futuristic and yet pretty crushing sound, this British trio unleashes all hell for over 24 minutes. With hefty influences from bands like Mysticum and Malignant Eternal, the band also incorporates additional influences to create very engaging and atmospheric songs.

Opening with the crushing “Sagittarius In Bloom”, we get pretty hectic (programmed) drumming and futuristic atmospherics that create a very distressing vibe. The band blasts away with crafty guitars and engaging tempo changes, making them far from linear or your typical Industrial Metal outfit that sounds like going to a Goth club. The blistering “Of Creation and Cancer”, has some nice old-school Death Metal chuggy riffs, at times reminding us of Deicide, until the atmospherics kick in.

Closing with the 10-minute “Cellular Catharsis”, the band shows more of their layers with lush vocal arrangements and dramatic atmospherics. This closer gives us more Fleshgod Apocalypse-meets-The Monolith Deathcult vibes. As a whole, “Towers” is a very solid EP that showcases the band’s strengths in creating uniquely engaging songs. While their sound could be very vanilla, the band does a very good job in keeping things interesting and incorporating a wide variety of elements to their sound, making it quite engaging and refreshing.
