Unleashing one of the densest and most foul releases of 2026, today we have none other than Finland's Archgoat and their latest creation “Nightbringer, Lightbringer”. Featuring eleven tracks and over 41-minutes of crushing music, the band’s signature cavernous Blackened Death Metal is as effective as ever in creating a pungent atmosphere of bleakness and destruction. As the band’s first full-length release in five years, be ready to be pummeled with their raw power.

After a brief decadent atmospheric opener, the band blasts away with the album title track. Archgoat’s low-fi and raw power comes front and center immediately with hellish drumming and Lord Angelslayer’s signature snarl. The mixture of subtle atmospheric keyboards adds to the overall decadence, spicing things up and allowing the rudimentary bass-guitar-drums core to feel more expansive as tracks like “The Dawn to Armageddon", "Iconoclasm the Nazarene”, and “Blood Of Jesus Spilling Upon The Earth” unleash all hell with crunchy riffs and bestial aggression.

Our favorite track has to be the vicious “The Stygian Millenium” and its sinister pace, with “Keys of Hell and of Death” coming in at a close second with its fierce Black Metal riffing and hellish melodic elements. It’s hard not to fully appreciate simple and yet punishing tracks like “The Light Behind the Horns”, with its Punk-ish influences mixed in with Death Metal harshness and a demolishing pace. The band’s style has been refined over the years to be swift, direct and highly effective as the closer “Obsidian Reflection of Anti-Light” showcases.

As a whole, “Nightbringer, Lightbringer” is another masterful release by Archgoat that is full of their signature style decadence, and still offers some crafty melodic and atmospheric elements to keep things very eerie. The band’s ability to craft short and yet very powerful songs continues to be unrivaled, creating a very intense and visceral release that fans and fans of the genre alike will certainly enjoy. If you are on the market for something dark, powerful, and yet raw and rudimentary, look no further and get a copy of this album.
