Miscreance - Reminiscence (2026)

Delivering a very crafty and unique release, today we have Italian outfit Miscreance with their sophomore album “Reminiscence”. With a similar vibe to Death, yes - the Chuck Schuldiner one, this album unleashes nearly 40-minutes across nine-tracks of old-school Technical Death Metal, with a Thrash vibe. Making the style their own, this release is quite engaging and nostalgic, while still delivering some uniqueness that makes the band stand out.

Opening with the intricacies of “Trait d’Union” and “Vision”, we quickly get that Proggy playfulness we loved from Death with a modern clean production and some extra funkiness added, creating a very engaging release. Andrea Granauro and Tommaso Cappelletti guitar work is pretty solid, nailing Thrash-infused riffs alongside crazy tempo changes and blistering solos, and some pretty entertaining progressions like on the killer “Scalp Ceremony” and "Synaptic Cortex Dissection”.

Expanding their sound with some additional percussions, as well as instruments like flutes and the didgeridoo, courtesy of Leo Di Angilla, each song in this release is engaging and crafty, having high-replay value to fully digest and process the music. At times we feel like we are listening to DTA or Left to Die, and other times the more modern nuances of bands like Obscura, and Beyond Creation come to light like on “Oracle’s Rifft”, “Symbiossis”, and our favorite “Zenith of a Dying Sun”.

Closing with the playful exploration of “Mirage”, Miscreance has managed to deliver a very unique and different release, that while having some ‘retro’ elements, it still has enough substance to stand on its own and carve a unique style for this Italian outfit. If you like music that is challenging and expertly crafted, “Reminiscence” is one of those releases that continues to grow and unravel the more you are listening to it.
