Burial Gift - MMXXV (2025)

Unleashing an explosive and totally awesome EP, today we have North American outfit Burial Gift with their three song debut. With a sound that evokes the likes of Deafheaven, Heretoir, Alcest, etc. and but with a hefty dose of heaviness and rawness, this release makes a statement to keep an eye out for these guys.

Opening with the blistering “Sear”, we get the band going full-blast as the song starts, and slowly transition into more elegant and dreamy parts, very Deafheaven-esque, but with their own take on the sound. The massive drumming onslaughts are perfectly flanked by crafty riffs and masterful tempo changes, as “Elegy Azure” continues the onslaught while delivering engaging shoegazey passages.

The band masterfully blends aggression with more elegant and ethereal transitions, making them quickly stand out from your traditional Black/Post-Black Metal outfit, as “Hollow Bloom” showcases. As a whole, this very short but sweet release sets a very high bar for this band, and we hope their future releases keep up with the quality and creativity. If you are a fan of the previously mentioned bands, you can’t go wrong by picking up this release.
