    Morbid Carnage – Night Assassins (2010)

    Hailing from Hungary we get yet another band that is jumping on the Trash Metal revival bandwagon, but at least they are pretty solid at it. This band sounds a lot like Kreator did back in the 80’s and we are digging this release just because of this fact.

    The band does a great job at capturing all the brilliant elements that Trash had back in the day, and gives them the proper modern production values to make them sound very brutal and aggressive. “Night Assassins” is not the most original album we have heard in this ‘Trash Metal revival’ era, but it sure is one of the most old-school sounding ones.

    Destinity – XI Reasons To See (2010)

    The ever changing French band Destiny is back with a very complex and multi-faceted album that will surely be enjoyed by fans of different styles of Metal music. “XI Reasons To See” feature a wide variety of tracks that feature a healthy combination of Melodic Death Metal, Trash Metal and Modern Death Metal.

    Some people might argue that this release has too much stuff going on to be fully appreciated, but we believe that one you give this album a few listens you will start to appreciate all the layering that Destiny has done. With a strong Melodic DM and Trash foundation we greatly enjoy this release.

    Exodus – Exhibit B: The Human Condition (2010)

    Two years have passed since the so-so “Let There Be Blood” and now we have Exodus back in full swing. The band has managed to produce a very impressive album with “Exhibit B: The Human Condition” that it reminds us of their earlier days, but with that modern edge that the band has been incorporating into their sound.

    This new release is both more Melodic and Brutal, but the best part is that it sounds like Exodus all the way, no filler songs, no disconnection between track, “Exhibit B: The Human Condition” is a brilliant album from start to end. The listener is in for an impressive Trash Metal riff-a-ton courtesy of Gary Holt and Lee Altus.

    Lair Of The Minotaur - Evil Power (2010)

    With a very interesting band name: Lair Of The Minotaur, and a superb album title “Evil Power” we review today this band from the USA. The band plays a very interesting combination of Trash and Doom metal that we have only heard a handful of times. With the unconventional combination of genres comes either great or terrible music, but Lair Of The Minotaur pulls it off nicely.

    Since the first moments of “Evil Power” you can hear what the band is all about: combining Trashy riffs with Doom metal’s grinding style. And as you can expect, the band produces pure power and aggression with their 30 minutes of music divided in 11 tracks.

    Black Breath – Heavy Breathing (2010)

    Relatively unknown Black Breath is ready to storm the scene with their very aggressive release “Heavy Breathing”. The band combines Trash, Death, and Crust-punk in a very random way, producing a very powerful sound that will grab you by the throat since track one.

    For a relatively young band, Black Breath does a great job in having a perfect Crossover sound that only a few bands can pull off. All songs feature great intensity and relentless riffing, showing their Trash meddle. “Heavy Breathing” is a very solid first effort from a band that shows great potential for the future.

    Kaos – The Pits Of Existence (2010)

    With the Spotlight shining on the Bay Area Trash Metal scene once more we have legendary bands releasing their finest releases to date like Exodus and Heathen. We also have other bands resurrecting like Forbidden, all this activity has made other bands like Kaos want to make another push to establish themselves as major players of the scene.

    Kaos has been around since the late 80’s releasing demo after demo until their first album saw the light of day in 2000 with “Vision Beyond”. After that the band signed to Relentless Records in order to release “Kaos Among Us”. Fast-forward to 2010 and we get the band’s latest offering with “The Pits Of Existence”, an album that clearly captures the old-school feeling and it’s marked to push Kaos into the spot light.

    Distractress – Escalate The Thrill (2009)

    Arriving from Finland, this month we have Distractress 3-song demo called “Escalate The Thrill”. This relatively young band does an interesting job in mixing Trash Metal influences with a modern Metal influences. The band sometimes sounds like the newer Amoral, in a good way! Nobody can sound as bad as Ari Koivunen does in that album.

    Anyways, “Escalate The Thrill” features 3 songs that will have many people scratching their heads as why the band chose to use clean vocals over Trash Metal influences paired with Melodic Metal. However, the band does pull it off to some extent. Sometimes the clean vocals get a bit overpowering and just sound annoying, but the band has the right idea when it comes to the music.

    Perversor – Demon Metal (2010)

    Hailing from Chile, these old-school inspired metal heads propose a very traditional sounding mix of Black/Death and Trash Metal. Heavily influenced by Hellhammer, Possesed and old Mayhem, this band will blow you away with their latest EP “Demon Metal”.

    Featuring only 17 minutes of music this release flies by with all its brutality and will leave you wanting for more. With their old-school logo, album cover, and sound this band will take you on a backwards journey to the lat 80’s.

    Bestial Mockery - Christcrushing Hammerchainsaw (2010)

    With “Christcrushing Hammerchainsaw” Hell’s Hedbangers has re-released one of the best underground albums of Black/Trash Metal ever made. Bestial Mockery was a Swedish band that played Black/Trash Metal in the vein of Venom, Sodom, Bewitched and Bathory.

    The band never reached wide acclaim or recognition, but all their releases hold a special place in all the fans of old-school Black/Trash Metal. Featuring 26 minutes of music in 10 tracks, you know you are into a wide ride from start to finish. The album starts with pure aggression and never stops.

    Demonica – Demonstrous (2010)

    Featuring Hank Shermann from Merciful Fate fame, Demonica is here to capitalize on the current revival of Trash Metal. And they do a great job at it, kicking ass in every direction this album takes.

    You can hear some Slayer-style vocals (which are not my favorite), but the best element in this album is the guitar riffing: it’s amazing. If you are not a big Trash Fan you should get in on the action right now, since there are many brilliant albums being released these days.
