Mammutant – Atomizer (2010)

cover

With Mammutant’s Atomizer, today we have 44:44 minutes of pure lack of creativity and inspiration. The band’s second full-length release is a very dull album to have to sit through and listen. We usually listen to albums at least 3 times before writing a review and we had a hard time getting through this album even the first time.

Playing Death Metal with Industrial influences the band looks as if Lordi and the cast of Starwars had a child. Playing on the whole creepy costumes/outfits is ok when your music is somewhat decent, but if it sucks, then we assume they just look like jackasses on stage.

Going over the music, we see that the Industrial influences just add nothing to the band’s uninspired Death Metal. The production of the drums is very good, and that is probably the best we can say about this release. The vocals are very raspy and sound extremely forced, not as natural as most DM growlers on the scene.

The guitar riffing has some moments, but quickly becomes ridiculously monotonous to the point of thinking that they used the same riffs for all 11 songs. There are some rhythmical moments, like on “Vermingod”, but they are quickly drowned away. The atmospheric sci-fi inspired keyboards are ok, but sometimes they feel very out of place. If you are using them, use them right and well timed we must say.

Overall, Mammutant is one band we are planning on staying away from in the next few years, unless we hear good things about their future albums. They need to find a less static sound and cerate more dynamic songs that engage the listeners, not bore them to death.
