KLIMT 1918 - Àmor (2026)

Only ten years have passed since the band’s last album, “Sentimentale Jugend”, and we couldn’t be more excited about the release of “Àmor”. As one of the bands that got us to open our musical palette back in the 2000s with their “Undressed Momento” and “Dopoguerra” releases, KLIMT 1918 has always been creating dreamy and highly understated music. Featuring a very lush Shoegaze/Post-Rock sound with some Alternative/Atmospheric Rock sprinkles, this release will appeal to any fan of bands like Alcest, all the way to Anathema and EF.

Kicking off the release with the lush guitars of “DreamCore”, the band immediately immerses the listener into their magical sound. Filled with dreamy vocals and overpowering atmospherics, this release sets off a magical course from the start. As “Aventine”, “Nihil Vitra”, and “Eros” come around, the listener is fully swept off this realm and into the band’s unique aural plane. There are tons of subtle elements and arrangements that make their songs quite expansive and yet very cohesive sounding.

Some of the core elements of the band are always present, like the throbbing bass guitar line of “Un Ette Invincible” masterfully guiding the playful drumming and flanking Marco Soellner’s vocals. We particularly enjoy some of the longer songs like “Peticore” and “Nexus”, where that extra minute or two of music allows the track to develop in a slower and more dynamic way, creating some unique textures. The band has great skills in creating truly memorable songs, like the twangy “Aftersun” or the retro sounding “Mountain”.

Overall, “Àmor” is one of those releases that hooks you from the start, and continues to gradually get better and better as it fully unleashes its beauty. While KLIMT 1918 might not be as active as one would want in terms of releases, they surely make them count. If you are on the market for something truly magical and lush, filled with Shoegazey brilliance and dramatic vocal arrangements, do not miss out on this excellent release.
