Staying truly underground for over 20 years, Germany’s Werwolf is finally unleashing their debut full-length release, aptly titled “Satanic Terror”. Keep the old-school raw and ugly Black Metal alive, this release unleashes blasphemy and hell through seven tracks. Featuring over 30-minutes of music, this release will transport the listener to simpler times in the genre, and will hit them like a bag of bricks with sheer ferocity and foulness.

Opening with the blistering album title track, we get a massive dose of vicious riffs alongside crafty drums and that frostiness of old-school Black Metal that relied on simple rhythms and engaging tempo changes to keep the listener engaged. The sickness quickly spread with tracks like “Shrine of Fate”, “…of Cursed Places and Desecrated Graves”, and “Temple of No Light” unraveling the band’s uncompromisingly raw and punishing sound.

By the time “Unholy Trinity” comes around, the band has already set their pace and style in a very commanding and brutal way, keeping on their toes with their incisive song writing. “Infernal Devotion” is our favorite track thanks to its vicious snarls and crafty old-school Punk-ish BM elements, similar to early Taake songs.

As a whole, “Satanic Terror” is a well earned debut release that has no fillers and it is ready to showcase Werwolf and their vicious nature. The band's fierce in rudimentary sound is what makes them quickly stand out, as others try to mimic and fake it, while Werwolf is the real deal. If you are looking for those early nostalgic days of the genre, this release will back some good memories and probably even make some new ones.
