Häxär - Teufelskult (2025)

cover

One-man battalion Häxär is ready to unleash its third full-length release titled “Teufelskult”. Featuring an interesting combination of different Black Metal subgenres, like Atmospheric, Melodic to some Pagan influences, this release delivers over 36 minutes of uniquely crafted and very engaging music. With the scene releasing more than one album a day, on average, it is refreshing to find releases like this one that challenge the status quo and mark their own path.

The release starts with the hellish “Dämonenblut”, a track that after a brief intro tumbles into an abyss of fierce riffs and blistering drums. Tracks like “Teufelskvlt” and “Askahex” introduce a blend of crafty melodic passages and chaotic tempo changes, creating a very dense atmosphere around basic core elements with some splashes of melody. The band continues to explore with more restrained tempos and a higher atmospheric component in the chilling “Bastardis”, one of our favorite tracks in this release.

Before the closer, the band goes down the dungeon synth realm with “Götterdämmerung”, however, it closes strongly with “Prozession der Wölfe”. This last song features eerie clean vocal arrangements, giving it a certain Pagan BM edge thanks to its harsh onslaughts and distorted guitars. As a whole, “Teufelskult” is a pretty interesting release, far from linear, showing Häxär trying a few things while staying true to their BM core.
