Centinex - With Guts and Glory (2025)

cover

Keeping the flame of old-school Swedish Death Metal alive, Centinex returns with their crushing latest full-length release “With Guts and Glory”. Unleashing eight tracks of chugging riffs and alongside a stern snarl and crafty drumming, the band shows no signs of aging. Recommended for the nostalgic metal head, this release brings back the days when bands like Grave and Entombed ruled the scene, with fierce guitars and plenty of headbanging.

Opening with “Becoming”, the band transports the listener in a time capsule to the 90’s, unleashing a crafty wave of riffs and tight drumming. Henrik Andersson does a pretty solid job in capturing the genre’s signature snarl, as tracks like “Your Religion Dies Tonight”, “Gods of Guilt” and “A Masterpiece in Flesh” roll around. Far from linear, the band combines plenty of engaging tempo changes alongside their basic instrumentation to carve some bangers in this one.

Featuring a timeless sound on songs like “Symphony of Screams”, and the closer “Sorrowtears”, Centinex excels at their signature style and yet keep things interesting with a few modern touches and a crisp production. Death Metal has evolved into many different things over the years, however, it is still encouraging to listen to albums like “With Guts and Glory” that keep things simple and enjoyable for old timers like us.
