President - King Of Terrors (2025)

cover

Coming in hot with tons of hype and mystery, UK’s President has made more than enough waves with their mystique. In their first EP release, “King of Terrors”, the band easily substantiates with hype with six piercing tracks that masterfully combine Metal elements with a plethora of more mainstream influences, and a hefty dose of catchiness. This mysterious outfit manages to craft tracks that are a great balance of heaviness and melody, creating some truly memorable soaring vocal arrangements and masterful instrumentation.

Opening with “In The Name Of The Father”, the EP sets a very high bar with its relentless aggression, Djent-y elements, and their transition to soaring clean vocals and subtle electronics. While definitely not your regular Metal track, it certainly has its merits. Things quickly escalate as “Fearless” continues with its distorted guitars and some of the catchiest percussion and chorus sections that we have heard in quite a while.

Things continue to get more catchy and melancholic as “RAGE” drops, and it creates a very dreamy vibe with its crafty beats and atmospheric elements, nicely changing the pace a bit before “Destroy Me” arrives. This track has a 90’s Emo-ish vibes mixed in with some older Metalcore. As “Dionysus” and “Conclave” close this release, we are left with a very good impression of President and their musical versatility, as they create pretty engaging tracks that are both catchy and heavy, with a great variation of tempos and moods.

As a whole, “King of Terrors” validates the hype behind President, and gives the listener a taste of the band’s abilities. There are tons of crafty elements that are very well blended with a heavy Metal-core-ish foundation. However, the strong suit of this outfit is the versatility of the vocals and the range of the singer (could it be Charlie Simpson?), and how well it gets incorporated into the overall flow of the songs. President definitely makes a powerful statement with this EP, and it is certainly a band that will turn heads as their mystique continues to unravel.
