Unleashing a short-but-sweet EP, today we have UK’s The Crawling with “What We Leave Behind”. Featuring two tracks of pure bleakness, the band’s Death/Doom Metal sound is timeless with a slightly fresh edge to it. For fans of My Dying Bride, Swallow the Sun, Insomnium and similar artists, this release heats heavy and quick.

Opening with the heavier track, “A Song To Nurse The Sickness”, has a fresh and lively production that showcases all instruments very clearly, allowing the band’s aural power to fully shine. The track itself is catchy, delivering solid headbanging moments. The second track, “Bound To The Negative (Requiem)” has more of an Epic Doom Metal vibe, with Andy Clarke’s dramatic clean vocals leading the way alongside very solemn instrumentation.

As a whole, “What We Leave Behind” is a nice teaser of the damage this band can do with their crisp and polished Doom Metal sound. For a trio, The Crawling has a very rich and compact sound that any fan of the genre will enjoy. Do not hesitate to pick up a copy of this release if you like the genre, you will certainly not be disappointed and might just find another band to add to your arsenal of Doom Metal outfits.
