Since Yesterday – Artificial Truth (2010)

cover

It has been a very international month here at Infernal Masquerade reviewing (and receiving) albums from all over the world. Since Yesterday hails from Ankara, Turkey and they are planning a massive global take over with their superb debut album “Artifical Truth”.

As an avid reader of Infernal Masquerade you should know that we do not like the majority of the mainstream Metalcore band and albums. However, we are truly objective when we get any releases for reviewing purposes and sometimes we get true gems that will surely take by surprise the genre and will shake out the established bands of their grandeur pipe dreams of super stardom.

Since Yesterday’s music is so mature that you would never image this is their first full-length release. The band takes many influences form the American Metalcore scene, but their music has enough European Melodic Metal influences to make them sound fresh and blow the competition away.

Featuring blistering fast riffs, insane solos and an overall crushing sound, Since Yesterday is what all bands that currently play Metalcore should be. This beast of a band takes what other bands have made and takes it to the next level. The overall composition of all songs is superb and will surely have you headbanging from start to end.

Relying on intricate guitar tracks, the band excels at creating Metalcore anthems that will make creativity deprived bands like KSE cry on their sleep. The drumming is vital in this release since it keeps things together and never let’s go. The band’s vocalist does a great job at both harsh screams and clean vocals, making him versatile enough to switch between them and not loose the overall intensity that the music has.

It is not common for us to praise bands that play the commercial Metalcore genre, but we also give credit when credit is due, and Since Yesterday deserves an A for effort and freshness. The bands music is brilliant and hopefully they have more releases like this in them. So if you are a Metalcore fan and are tired of the same bullshit that ‘popular’ bands are pumping into the scene, this is the album for you. Be prepared to be blown away since track one.
