Soul Exchange - Slow Descent (2026)

Far from being dead, Hardcore has been making a comeback in small and large stages in the last couple of years. Bands like Soul Exchange are keeping the genre going with new ideas while keeping that brutality and rawness of the genre that everybody loves. Featuring five tracks and over 15 minutes of music, this release shows the listener just enough of the band to keep them hooked and waiting for more.

Opening with the meaty “Exchange Rate”, the band showcases its crafty drumming and fierce riffing to get the listener in the right mood. “Familiar Poison”, “In The Room But Not With Me”, and “Cash and Cold Hands” nicely showcase the band’s wider aural palette with some more ‘Metal’ elements alongside engaging melodic influences and even some dramatic clean vocals thrown into the mix.

Closing with the vicious album title track, we also get a hint of old-school Death Metal elements alongside the harsh snarls and more melodic passages. Overall, “Slow Descent” is a pretty solid EP to showcase the band’s raw power and talents. If you like Hardcore and are tired of playing your usual rotation of genre greats, Soul Exchange is a nice addition to the mix.
