After a furious intro track you brace your-self for another raw and brutal Black Metal release but as you keep listening to “Nous Reviendrons Immortels” you find that there is more to Aldaaron than just raw Black Metal. The band style can be compared to a mixture of Himinbjørg, Mithotyn, and other Pagan/ Viking Metal bands but adding their own raw Black Metal elements to the mix. However the melodic aspect of this band is what made them stand out for us. Featuring very epic and depressive songs like “Nirnaeth Arnoediad Part 2” you are blown away by the feeling of emptiness created by the majestic riffing and minimalistic synth usage. After snapping out of the epic melodic passages the band changes rapidly into a furious Black Metal beast similar to bands like Gorgoroth, Immortal, Horna, etc. The riffing as you expect from any BM band is relentless and brutal, satisfying any fan of the genre, and adding the melodic touch in the mix you get epic songs that transcend the barriers imposed by genres. The vocals are raw and hellish, like you would expect from a BM band. Fitting perfectly with the emotions transferred by the music they feel like laments of despair. The drumming is bestial and well mixed since it does not overshadow the riffing and vocals like in many raw-BM released. Overall we love the mixture of extreme rawness and melody that Aldaaron utilizes in their songs. “Nous Reviendrons Immortels” is a near perfect first album from a band that shows high promise and can reach several audiences at the same time. We love this album and surely catch this band live if they ever make it to the USA. |
