Finding it’s way to our PO Box today we have this absolutely fantastic double live release from Cyco Miko and Infectious Grooves. If you really need an introduction to who these two bands are, you should be put to sleep. Featuring the original lineup for Infectious Grooves, we have Mike Muir, Robert Trujillo (yeah, he did played with other bands before becoming rich with Metallica), Dean Pleasants, Brooks Wackerman and Dave Nassie playing tunes from both Infectious Grooves and Cyco Miko. On this soon to be released double CD we have two separate sets, one from each band and both equally magical. Mike Muir has one of the best stage presences in the business and he shines with both ‘band’. The majority of the greatest hits from these two bands are captured in this timeless release that will surely be a great addition to any Suicidal/Infectious Groves/Cyco Miko fan collection. First off we give a spin to the Cyco Miko CD, as you can expect this ‘band’ is more Punk oriented with some minimal Trash influences. This CD features a healthy selection of songs that will include most people’s favorites (ours is “All I Ever Get”). However, we think is a bit short since there are only 9 tracks and they fly by fairly quick, but then again the ‘band’ only has around 11 tracks at this time since the concert was recorded in 1995 and their first album “Lost My Brain! (Once Again) was released in 1996. The second CD has all the Infectious Grooves tracks, as you know featuring a nice blend of Funk and Rock, with Robert Trujillo showing off his bass guitar playing skills. With 16 tracks, we get a pretty solid selection of hit songs through this CD. The duration of this CD is also considerably longer since the songs of Infectious Grooves are longer than Cyco Miko’s. We are not going to name tracks individually and all the usual shit since if you are reading this review, you sure as shit know how the band’s sound. However, we will say that the sound quality of the live recording is top notch, sounding as good as any ‘modern day’ live releases. We particularly love how the crow sound is very well mixed to give this live CD the proper feeling. If you love either of the bands, you should definitely drop whatever you are doing and go and get this release as soon as it gets released. |
