Interview with Lost God - Arnaud and Guillaume

After the release of the band's Mini-Cd, we had the opportunity of asking some questions to the mastermind behind the band. Here we get the very interesting and extremely 'eloquent' answers to our questions.

Infernal Masquerade: What was the main reason behind the formation of Lost God (and concept of the band)?

Arnaud & Guillaume: Hails.
The main reason for the band creation is to show the world how evil we are. But beside this big point, we also want to:

  1. Invade the world
  2. Push the more people possible to commit collective suicide
  3. Puke on the society our extreme hatred
  4. Have fun amongst metal friends around the world
  5. Pass once on Mtv and send kisses (poisoned) to everyone
  6. Be rich
  7. Be someone
  8. Make some advertisement for cosmetic products
  9. Making noise
  10. And of course training to make the stinkiest farts for a worldwide holocaust.

Or only let ourselves express some kind of intense fury through a musical way, delivering a message about the smallness of the human race in front of the nature’s forces.

I.M: Where did you guys draw inspiration to create the band’s sound?

In the Walt Disney comics’ hard parts and in our darkest feelings against this stupid society and all that make it that disgusting…  We just have to let speak our hatred and it comes naturally… For the moment, the Lost God entity is only going out of the womb, so there are still things to change. We go step by step where we have to go. But the way is simple; we just play and let all going out.
Musically, we all have many influences from Death, Black, Grindcore, … to Ambient, … To much bands to only tell a few…

I.M: “Savage Souls” is the band’s first official release. Can you tell us more about the concept or ideas behind the album? Also about the writing and recording process? Why is it only 12 minutes long?

The concept of “Savage Souls” tells about the old spirits from the ancient mythologies coming back to our dimension to annihilate all this scum race of humans for their no-respect of what gives us life. This mini-cd is the arrival of these souls on earth…

The writing process is really easy since Satan, a nude magic dwarf, a flying wolf, … come to tell us what to do. But sometimes it’s the guitar player who comes with riffs, and we work together to make a structure and then polish details during the next rehearsals. Classical, I guess…

This first release is only about 12 minutes because we wanted to propose a kind of sample of our music before a full length album but by a professional way. We had the opportunity to record a piece in a really professional studio so we got it. As it was expensive, we didn’t had the time and money to record more.

I.M: What are you guys planning to achieve with Lost God?

Cooking lessons, to be endorsed by a mayonnaise brand, and a massive slaughter of course!
But in the same time, we also would like to play a maximum of gigs everywhere to forward and share our poison with the most possible people.

I.M: Have you guys started thinking about a full length album?

Between sexual and murdering thoughts, for sure we think about that. Especially because we have a lot of unrecorded songs for a long time. We are impatient to propose a real full length album. But you can understand that we need money to do that or maybe finding a label or a structure who dares to help us.
If we didn’t had all these shits with line-up changes, I guess it would be easier too…

I.M: Being from Belgium, how is the scene over there, is it ‘easy’ to get shows and radio time?

But here, the scene is relatively developed and we can see several motivated people who make move this scene since a couple of year. There are many passionate people here but always not enough of course. And it's not very easy to get shows and radio time but we do our best.

I.M: Since the band formed the Internet and technology has evolved enough to make music more accessible, easier to record and as the downside piracy has flourished, what is your opinion on this? Do you think these things had a positive impact on the scene, or do you think it has tainted the scene?

As in many things, the excess is bad (isn’t it a wise sentence?) but we are fully in an internet generation now so it’s better to use it than letting this opportunity to be able to touch more people with our message. We have to use that intelligently. The most important is that people have a certain critical mind to discern shit and quality we can find on the web. Unfortunately they often mix both in disorder…
For sure it's easier now to make discover a band or to record something but we have to be careful to the downsides. We prefer be axed on quality by recording in studio for instance.

But we are not a band who spit on the internet because we use that every day. We could also choose to live in a little cabin in the forest, but it’s not practical for the electric guitars…

I.M: If you guys had unlimited money for a live performance, what props and stage set up would you use?

A scene entirely covered with human guts, blood, dead nuns and priests (from all religions) and …. carbonara spaghettis.
We would take a lot of people and slaughter them during playing to cover the audience with. There, we would know if our audience is really evil! And we could put our will into facts… The money would be used to corrupt judges, police, … Everybody have a price in this nice world.

I.M: Anything else you want to add for your fans and our readers?

Use your brain and follow us blinded by hatred in our madness.
And thank you for increasing the Lost God forces!

I.M: Thanks for answering the questions and good luck with the new promo.

Thanks for asking and thanks a lot for your support!
