Infernal Masquerade: You guys just played at WGT 2011, what impressions do you have from this gig?
Eviga: It was a memorable day indeed. Within only five hours I played two shows with Empyrium and Dornenreich - and these concerts turned out to be fantastic experiences. Naturally, the first stage-appearance of Empyrium after more than fifteen years was a special event a priori and I was deeply proud and glad for the fact that I could contribute my part to this unique band. Markus/Schwadorf and I are friends and he supported Dornenreich on bass when we recorded our DVD-metal-show back in 2007, thus, it meant a lot to me that I was given the chance to show my gratitude this way ...
I.M: Being the 20th anniversary of the festival and the importance of the festival, how was you reaction when you where selected to play?
Eviga: Well, we played at the WGT for the first time in 2001. We also played two acoustic concerts in 2007 - and now in 2011 we were a part of this festival again. It felt very, very good for sure. The Dornenreich-concert was amazing, because - in spite of the fact - that many like-minded bands played at the same time our show was attended by 2000 extremely passionated people approximately, so ... It was an experience to keep in good memory - as the acoustic show was we just played in Romania, which took place in the Carpathian mountains in front of fewer but similarly dedicated people. It's all a matter of devotion and passion in the end ...
I.M: "Flammentriebe" just came out a few months ago, how do you think it was received by the fans of the band?
Eviga: Both the media and our fans embraced this very album with all their heart and experience and throughout the tours that we played so far we really felt that this album means a lot to the people out there. For numerous beings "Flammentriebe" is an album that will be talked about and remembered for many, many years to come. So, we feel honoured and reinvogorated.
I.M: After seven albums, how pleased are you with the band's trayectory and achievements? if there was anything that you could do differently, what would it be?
Eviga: We are simply happy about all the steps that we've made over the last fifteen years of Dornenreich's history. We have always done justice to our vision: creating heart- and handmade albums and that's what more and more people appreciate and love. Witout any doubt I - as the only remaining founding member - had to face difficult and desperate times. However, we're still here and it means so indescribably much to me that some beings out there relate so passionately, loyally and deeply to our expression. That's what it is all about in my perception. Shared moments of timeless passion.
I.M: The second leg of the "Flammentriebe" tour starts in October with Agrypnie, any chance you guys will do some dates in the states?
Eviga: Unfortunately, no sincere promoter in the US shows any real interest in Dornenreich, so we won't be able to perform there. For me it's clear: whenever we will go to the US we won't play one or two shows. We would come to tour, but as long as now good offers are made, we won't play. Sad but true, my friend; especially because we'd love to play in the US ...
I.M: What do you think that you want to achieve with the band in the next few years? what are the un-achieved goals of the band?
Eviga: Your question is right, because we've already achieved many of the goals and dreams we had and set when we started the band fifteen years ago. But still it is our passion to express something profound. Just some days ago we made plan for the next years - and at the moment the only thing that I can tell you for sure is that we are willing to continue our journey. You know, Dornenreich means passion ...
I.M: Anything else you want to add for the people in North America that listen to your music and are hoping to see you guys live?
Eviga: I got to know that we have many, many dedicated listeners in North America and I would like to thank you all over there for your support - and your shared heart. Besiders I can only repeat that we'd love to tour the US, we'd love to celebrate the intensity, the passion, the presence of life with you all. So, I can just encourage you to address your local concert-promoters to get in touch with us. Possibly we all will be given the chance to experience moments of common passion one day!
