10. Hyperion – Seraphical Euphony (2016)

Fredrik Norrman and company continue to deliver solid and consistent albums in the same vein as old-school Katatonia. |

5. Fallujah – Dreamless (2016)

As the only band in this list with core-ish influences, Fallujah continues to evolve brilliantly into Melodic/Technical Death Metal territories with an atmospheric edge. |

4. Countless Skies – New Dawn (2016)

Named after a song from genre greats Be'lakor, this band honor them and everybody before them with an amazing release filled with killer rifs and crafty arrangements. |

3. Amon Amarth – Jomsviking (2016)

The vikings return with another brilliant release featuring tons of headbanging moments and epic horn raising tunes, this is one of the band's finest efforts to date. |
