GWAR to assault Bonnaroo 2010!
FROM THE DESK OF ODERUS URUNGUS
February 2010
Attention! Attention! What follows is an official transmission from GWAR's middle-level, not-so-secret, hulking Antarctic fortress of eternal joy and torment - O.K. here it is!
"What's up freaks, it is your lord and master, Oderus Urungus, lead (and rear) singer of the world's (and indeed, all things) foremost schlock rock group band splat-tak-u-larthat's right ---GWAR! After several weeks of crack-fueled orgies (i.e. the Fall/Winter 2009 US tour and all the sordid activities that followed), I have just come a "high" level meeting with my band brothers and actually started to figure out just what the fuck we are going to be up to this year, and how you human filth (and slaves) can come gape at our awesomeness!
"Well, the obvious is clear. We are continuing our very special two-year long anniversary "slay-a-bration" of GWAR's 25th year of complete dominance over this miserable planet. We are about a quarter of the way through it and it is our sacred duty to continue with unparalleled fury until it is over! "Lust In Space" shall be the cry as the mighty GWAR continues its defense of the planet Earth from the forces of Cardinal Syn throughout the teeming cities of man and maggot kind! So look for GWAR to return to the United States in late Spring, bringing destruction to all who thought they had been spared, and culminating with a blood-feat of dracu-lesque proportion at one of this planet's biggest music festivals.
Sound the horn, bang the drum, impale the midget! Do anything, as long as it helps you spread the cry -"
GWAR IS PLAYING BONNAROO!
That's right; one of the most notorious bands in rock and roll history and the only one ever to hail from Antarctica, the mighty GWAR is set to close the main stage on Saturday night, June the 12th, at this year's Bonnaroo Music Festival. After a host of other amazing bands (and some shitty ones) have driven the humans into an orgiastic frenzy, just as the death legions of Cardinal Syn descend from above, spewing plasma weapons into the horrified crowd, then and only then shall GWAR take the stage; hoof, nail and claw!!!
"This is an unprecedented opportunity for us to bust up our personal best "kill count" of 70,000 deaths, which we inflicted on the humans at Wacken last year. Supposedly there will be over 100,000 potential victims - and we intend to kill them all!"
In yet another nod to the stellar magnificence of GWAR, this world's only openly-extraterrestrial rock outfit, they will be sharing the stage with some of the biggest names in show biz with everybody from Jay-Z to the Melvins.
"Personally, I am looking forward to nostri-raping the entire Dave Matthews Band", said Oderus, mouthing off as usual. The summer shows offer no reprieve as GWAR returns to Europe in a hideous display of chaos, death and, of course, filth! Not in the whole of Europe's blood-drenched history will you find such a hideous gathering of damned souls as you will when you witness GWAR this summer in Europe!

08/15 Derby, United Kingdom Bloodstock
08/20 Dinckelsbruhl, Germany Summer Breeze Festival
08/21 Lierop, Netherlands Nirwana Tuinfest
"Our ruthless extermination of all life shall be continued after we have driven the forces of Cardinal Syn (who is an asshole) back into the inky abyss! And as we slay, we celebrate 25 years of debauchery, depravity and entertainment with the world's foremost authority on all of the above - fucking GWAR!"
"Look for a slew of both commemorative and completely fresh projects birthing from our diseased wombs throughout this time, though I can give you no fresh clues, I can tell you that several boner-fied projects are in the offing, stuff so good you will cream blood out of your eyes. More details will be coming when we fucking feel like it! In the meantime, rape an animal for Christ, and your mom doesn't count, because I chopped off her fingers!"

Woe Of Tyrants Unleash First Single and "Threnody" Album Art!
Woe Of Tyrants spent the entirety of 2009 criss-crossing the US on a multitude of tours. After the grueling schedule came to a close, did they head home to rest and take some time offω NOPE! They dove right into songwriting for the follow up to their sophomore album and Metal Blade debut, Kingdom Of Might. This time around, the guys have seriously turned up the shred-knob and churned out some of the most exciting songs we've heard swirling around the Metal Blade offices in quite some time. On this record, you'll find equal parts speed, groove and over the top guitar soloing. Headbanging will be mandatory.
The new album, Threnody, will be released worldwide on April 13th while the band will be on the road with Overkill and Vader. Fans can hear Creatures Of The Mire now on the band's myspace HERE. SiriusXM Liquid Metal listeners have been hearing this track since its premiere on the station on Friday, February 12th.
Vocalist Chris Catanzaro discusses the themes of Threnody:
Well 2009 proved to be a monstrous one for Woe of Tyrants. It was a year of accomplishing goals such as releasing our debut Metal Blade album, touring with bands we've grown up listening to, and meeting thousands of awesome people all over the country. As we embark into 2010, our goals have shifted up a few gears. We have a brand baby spankin' new record that we finished recording at the end of 2009 with Jamie King producing, and to embrace the cliché "this is the most epic brutal stuff we've ever done and we're stoked on it!" The album is entitled Threnody. Now for those of us who do not know what that word means right off hand (I had to look it up as I was reading a passage from Ralph Waldo Emerson long ago), a threnody is a song or hymn inspired by the grief of losing someone you love. The album tells a story of a non-specific individual traveling between planets searching for answers, while paralleling Satan's fall from grace to damnation at the same time. We all experience a change at s me point as we travel through life, albeit not of the same magnitude as Lucifer, that will render us either content, or disgusted. When disgust is the feeling, then we begin to miss our former self as if they were an entirely different person. I'd like to be clear that I'm not referring specifically to Christians, or Muslims, or Amish or whatever else the kids are doing these days. Threnody, as we are using it, is a story of grief over losing oneself. This album will surprise those familiar with our band, and hopefully surpass any preconceived notions of those who are listening to us for the first time. If you have expectations for this record to sound like our last two albums, it doesn't. Well, a little like the others, as we still prefer playing leads over doing breakdowns, and we still wish we were Wintersun or Decapitated. But for the most part, this record is new territory for us and we are excited to unleash it.
We have a huge touring schedule kicking off in the spring, preceded by some regional shows in February as a part of the "Metal as Art" tour with Hypno5e, Starring Janet Leigh and Fallen Martyr. At the end of March, we leave on the KILLFEST tour which features Overkill, Vader, God Dethroned, Warbringer and Evile. We couldn't be happier about being involved with such an epic tour, and to join Overkill on their 25th anniversary tour is truly an honor. Much love!"

Lazarus A.D. posts the second of two behind the scenes video for the making of "Absolute Power"!
This winter, Lazarus A.D. once again teamed up with Vision 4 Films to shoot their next video. Absolute Power will premiere sometime before their upcoming tour with Kreator, Voivod, Nachtmystium and Evile. The video is a bit different than their last two in that it has a bit of a storyline. The video features a brutal underground streetfight; if you're a fan of metal and/or the movie Kickboxer, you'll dig this video!
Jeff Paulick: "Yeah it was cold when we shot this video. But the bright side was we had plenty of beer, weed and good friends around to help make it a good time. The guys at Vision4Films always take care of us and I think this video is our best yet. I hope everyone enjoys watching the behind the scenes footage. We can't wait to see everyone on the upcoming Kreator tour. We hope you guys tear the fucking roof of the place during our set."
Of course the video also shows the band doing what they do best: thrashing their asses off. You can see both of the "making of" clips now on Lazarus A.D.'s youtube channel HERE. The guys will be hitting the road this Spring with metal legends Kreator and Voivod along with newcomers Nachtmystium and Evile.

Shai Hulud On "Abominable Snowtour" With Living Sacrifice and War Of Ages!
Hardcore/metal pioneers, Shai Hulud, are currently touring the US with the legendary Living Sacrifice and War Of Ages! Shai Hulud continues to tour in support of their 2008 album, Misanthropy Pure, one of their most critically acclaimed efforts to date. The guys will be taking their show overseas after this tour before they circle the wagons to write and record their next album.
Anyone that's seen Hulud live knows to expect one of the most passionate live shows in hardcore. Matt Fox and co. delivers smart, furious metal with no gimmicks and no fancy haircuts. This tour will prove to be one of the most intense shows you'll see all year.
Check out the video for the title track from Misanthropy Pure on the Metal Blade youtube channel HERE.
"Misanthropy Pure sees Shai back at their heavy-riffing, temp-shifting best, no small thanks to new vocalist Matt Mazzali, who is their most aggressive throat-shredder to date and adds a welcome brutality to the proceedings." 4/5 stars, Revolver Magazine
"Misanthropy is one giant, brain-rattling testament to the genre-blurring finesse of bands masterminds Matt Fox (guitar) and Matt Fletcher (bass), who fuse good, old-fashioned circle-pit hardcore with hair-whipping shred-metal, leaving us all the merrier for it." 4/5 stars, Alternative Press
"Shai Hulud has firestormed its way back into the hearts and minds of hardcore and metal fans with Misanthropy Pure." 9/10 Outburn Magazine
"The complex, string-hopping and mind-bending guitar runs played on "Venomspreader" and "Chorus Of The Dissimilar", hell the entire album, walk that thin line between discombobulating and awe-inspiring." Blabbermouth.net
"Shai Hulud's reemergence into the hardcore and metal scene has been delayed for far too long. Misanthropy Pure revisits all of the energy, intensity, and melody of the band's past recordingsIt's unlikely that a better metalcore album will be released this year." lambgoat.com
"Misanthropy Pure is the sound of a band pushing the boundaries of what technical hardcore can be." Ultimate-Guitar.com

AETERNAM (Metal Blade Records) - DISCIPLES OF THE UNSEEN OUT FEB. 16/10
http://www.myspace.com/aeternammetal
Formed in 2007 in Quebec City, AETERNAM has been preparing to unleash their own brand of epic death metal upon the world. Combining classic death metal songwriting with epic melodic soloing and middle-eastern influences, AETERNAM has fine-tuned its craft and made it into a perfect blend of brutality and melody. Their first studio release and Metal Blade Records debut, Disciples of the Unseen, was produced by mastermind JeF Fortin (Neuraxis, The Last Felony) and contains 10 tracks of pure intensity, crushing riffs, pounding bass lines, and brutal growls paving the way for epic solos, acoustic melodies, ambient keyboards and large vocal harmonies. Fans of Behemoth, Nile and Melechesh will most certainly find something about this band to enjoy.
BARN BURNER (Metal Blade Records) - BANGERS OUT FEB. 16/10
http://www.myspace.com/theinfamousbarnburner
From the metal loving city of Montreal comes one of the most killer riff machines this side of the 3 headed love child of Iron Maiden, Thin Lizzy and Fu Manchu. Barn Burner have been cruising around Canada over the past few years spreading their love of the riff, good times and are ready to spread their beard encrusted rock to the rest of the world.
BISON b.c. (Metal Blade Records) - DARK AGES OUT APRIL 13/10
http://www.myspace.com/bisoneastvan
On BISON b.c.'s latest slab, Dark Ages, relentless touring - with the likes of Priestess, Baroness, 3 Inches Of Blood, and more - has fine tuned the band's dedication to the riff to metallic perfection. Dark Ages breathes like a rabid animal that you'd find tied up in WINO's backyard. It's Flying V's, analog perfection, loud & sludgy, played by hairy dudes in dirty denim jackets.
Titan (Friends of Metal Blade Records)
http://www.myspace.com/titanslays
TITAN perform with a precision and passion that set them apart from others in the genre and are renowned for their intensity and staunch DIY work ethic. This notoriety has garnered them a devout following throughout the greater Toronto area, across Canada and Europe. Playing alongside the likes of Buried Inside (Relapse), Cursed (Goodfellow/Deathwish records), Today Is The Day (Relapse records), Lords (Black Market Activities), and Planes Mistaken For Stars (Abacus/No Idea records), TITAN are no strangers to the stage and have toured the north eastern United States several times as well as eastern Canada.
Assassinate The Following (Friends Of Metal Blade Records)
http://www.myspace.com/assassinatethefollowing
This band has a wide range of influences that combine their own sound of razor sharp progressive metal. Taking after such bands as Protest The Hero, Between The Buried And Me, Dream Theater, The Faceless, and many more, the band has put together their own unique style of music. In August 2007 the band recorded their debut self-titled EP at Spectre Sound. Feeling accomplished and successful with what they managed to produce, they headed back to the studio in April 2009 to produce their first full-length Massacre of the North.
