    Creating a truly immersive and sickening listening experience, “Nowhere Speaks” delivers waves of minimalist textures layered in dissonant ways unlike anything you have heard before. Emptiness continues to surprise the listener with their highly evocative fractured approach to experimental Metal, while incorporating tons of decadent elements to perfection. For over 40-minutes, the listener will be challenged by this expansive and disturbing release.

    This album is more of a continuation of 2014’s “Nothing but the Whole”, as the release has that cavernous and more Avant-garde Black/Death Metal nature. Bringing back that darker and more punishing side of the band, tracks like “The Threat”, "Nowhere Speaks”, and the vicious “Darkness Commands”, layer crafty distorted guitars with minimalist rhythms and some enigmatic vocals. The band’s Black/Death Metal elements shine more than in their recent release, and create creepy tracks like the playful and funky “Words to Wind”.

    Unleashing unrivaled cavernous darkness, today we have Czechia’s Inferno and their ninth full-length release “The Anthropic Sophisms (On the Heights of Despair)”. Featuring a crushing sound that is a mixture of Blut Aus Nord, Oranssi Pazuzu, Deathspell Omega, and some Akhlys, this release is as brutal and atmospheric as they get.

    Opening with the fierce dissonant riffs of “Fission of the Soul”, the band creates a very chaotic and yet piercing atmosphere that slowly builds up to deliver waves of devastating melody and harsh vocals. Clocking in at around 10 minutes, this piece sets a very hypnotic and oppressive vibe that blends into the decadence and obliteration of “Dekranos Katexochen”. With all tracks being quite long, the band can explore different movements and moods while creating a cohesive pummeling experience.

    Creating a very atmospheric and epic blend of Gothic and Black Metal, today we have Sojourner and their third full-length release: “Gateways”. Featuring a fantasy inspired theme, this outfit delivers seven tracks of lush and elegant music filled with masterful contrasts and a hefty dose of heaviness. Greatly enhancing their sound and improving since their last release, this outfit creates a very dynamic and engaging release that any fan of their earlier work will love.

    Quickly setting a very melancholic vibe, “Dawnrays” opens up this release with solemn piano arrangements that quickly transition into Doomy territories. The addition of Heike Langhans on vocals, changes the band’s sound slightly, but it adds more emotional depth to the female vocals, rapidly showcased by opener and “An the Paintings Fall”. There is a certain magic to Heike’s vocals, and it is very cool to hear them in a different concept than her other work with Draconian, Remina, and Lightfield Reverie.

    Delivering one of the most Atmospheric Doom Metal releases ever produced, today we have Spain’s Todomal and their third full-length release “Graveyards of Joy”. Very aptly titled, this release features a very powerful and uplifting found, creating a very epic and dramatic vibe. With the usual influences from bands like Candlemass, Anathema, Katatonia, there are also some Pink Floyd-esque elements that give this outfit a completely unique and very regal sound.

    Making a statement with the dreamy opener “Mare Ignis”, Mile and Wildman create a very powerful and moving vibe with soaring vocal arrangements and piercing atmospherics. Being huge fans of Doom Metal, this is certainly a very unique approach to the genre, creating some truly regal and powerful atmospheres that are intoxicating, as “Lucid Nightmare”, “Point of Coalescence" and “Misericordiah” fill the air. The band’s Doom side is also worth noting, with crushing riffs and very moody atmospherics.

    Being one of the few bands that are decently known outside of Indonesia that do not play Gore/Grind Metal, Pure Wrath as always impressed listeners with their raw and visceral Atmospheric Black Metal. After loving their first release through Debemur Morti, “Hymn to the Woeful Hearts”, this release unleashes over 40 minutes of even more refined music that takes a few spins to fully digest.

    Opening with the blistering two parts of “Bleak Days Ahead”, Ryo, the band’s single member, unleashes vicious onslaughts of misery inducing riffs that perfectly blend with his harsh screams. However, the subtle atmospherics is what gets the listener as the slowly creep on you and build up some intense momentum. Adding extra elements like sax, piano, organ, and mellotron, the music is quite varied and creates very profound passages thanks to this wider pallet of sounds.

    Unleashing one of the most explosive and expansive Atmospheric Black Metal releases of the last few years, today we have Antrisch and their sophomore full-length release “Expedition III: Renitenzpfad”. Clocking in at nearly 50-minutes of music, this release creates a very thick and tense atmosphere that is benefitted with sprinkles of Doom/Ambient/Djent elements around a fierce and punishing Black Metal core.

    Opening with the mysterious “I. Prolog - Conquista”, the band creates a very cinematic experience that quickly escalates with Maurice Wilson’s fierce shrieks and the band’s superbly crafty guitar work. The album’s lyrical narrative focuses on Pedro de Ursúa's Amazon expedition of 1560, delivering a very unique and powerful cinematic experience. Particularly, the mixture of passages in both Spanish and German, creates a very immersive and unique experience throughout the release.

    Umbrío - Quintaesencia nocturna (2025)

    Hailing from Chile, today we have a very unique and interesting Atmospheric Black Metal release titled “Quintaesencia nocturna”. Featuring a poignant Black Metal sound with heavy Doom influences, this outfit delivers eight tracks and nearly 40-minutes of hypnotic and ritualistic music with a certain retro edge, and some truly haunting passages. This band has a similar, albeit less theatrical sound that one of our favorite Mexican bands of the 90’s: Argentum, and their captivating Black/Doom Metal.

    After a magical and lush atmospheric opening, “El vacío de una flama bajo el firmamento” kicks off with blistering drumming and punishing riffs. The deep monotone vocals are quite engaging, keeping things very eerie, particularly thanks to the Spanish lyrics that add that extra layer of mystery (to non-Spanish speakers). The harsh vocals are very fitting of the genre, and a solid contribution, but the atmospheric components of the music is what draws the listener’s attention as “Vientos del clamor del pasado” and “Polvo - piedras - silencio” showcase.

    Blut Aus Nord - Ethereal Horizons (2025)

    The wait for one of the year’s most awaited releases is finally over. Blut Aus Nord returns with their epic “Ethereal Horizons”, unleashing over 51-minutes of nightmare inducing Atmospheric Black Metal. Constantly improving and expanding their sound over the years, from their more Industrial days, to their later Avant-garde/Atmospheric Black Metal influences, this release captures the band’s bombastic and yet hellish music in a very piercing and punishing way.

    Opening with the dreamy Atmospherics of “Shadows Breathe First”, we get an hypnotic opening that quickly transitions into intense riffing and nightmarish shrieks paired with ethereal clean vocals, creating a very unique and yet pummeling vibe. The band excels in creating unsettling music as “Seclusion” and “The Ordeal” weave back and forth between crafty drumming, dramatic atmospherics, and engaging tempo changes, keeping the listener engaged and enthralled with the proceedings.

    Bianca - Bianca (2025)

    Creating a very unique blend of Black Metal with Doom Metal and a heavy emphasis on atmospherics, today we have Italy’s Bianca and their self-titled debut release. With a very unique sound that could be considered adjacent to bands like Ponte del Diavolo, this release unleashes eight tracks and over 43 minutes of captivating music that is both hypnotic and punishing.

    After the atmospheric opener “The Dawn”, the release fully unravels with Doomy riffs and dreamy clean female vocal antics of “Abysmal”. However, it's the fierce Black Metal onslaughts that provide a brilliant contrast to a very sultry atmosphere. Keeping the vibes quite sultry and ethereal, “Somniloquies” continues to build the album’s atmosphere as the ravaging BM shrieks, blistering riffs, and crafty drumming keep things weaving back and forth from aggressive to melancholic.

    Remina - The Silver Sea (2025)

    Unleashing one of the most dreamy and otherworldly releases of 2025, today we have Remina with their sophomore release “The Silver Sea”. Formed by Heike Langhans and Mike Lamb, and now with Shayne Roos on drums, this outfit delivers one hell of an Atmospheric Gothic/Doom Metal release that will send shivers down your spine. For seven tracks and nearly 45-minutes of music, the band creates some of the most atmospheric and haunting music ever created, so be prepared to be blown away.

    Opening with the sidereal dreaminess of “Trust No One”, Heike’s solemn and charismatic vocals are perfectly embraced by trippy and crafty atmospherics alongside powerful riffs. Featuring a more prominent Doom vibe, “Algol” has Mick Moss (Antimatter) in an amazingly engaging duet with Heike. The second guest appearance comes under “Vanta Ray”, a very lively piece featuring Tony Dunn of Sgàile and very crafty guitar work, alongside playful drumming and a very melancholic vibe.
