Granitader - Schlachtenklang (2025)

cover

Unleashing a crafty mixture of Melodic/Pagan/Folk Metal with atmospheric tendencies, today we have Germany’s Granitader and their latest EP “Schlachtenklang”. Showcasing 15-minutes of music in three tracks, this release shows a nice balance between power and melody, reminding us of outfits like Enid, Ensiferum, and User Ne.

Opening with the folky intro of “Durch die Felder”, the band quickly showcases its ferocity with harsh vocals and crafty drumming. The track suddenly turns to more melodic territories with catchy riffs and engaging vocal arrangements. Keeping things epic and lively, “In die Schlacht” has a certain regal vibe to it, with a good dose of melody and excellent tempo changes. There are plenty of headbanging moments as the band flexes their more melodic influences.

Closing with “Wie Brüder”, the band’s more atmospheric and folk nature comes back alive with a very solemn opening that again escalates quickly to waves of catchiness and solid vocal arrangements. Overall, “Schlachtenklang” is a pretty engaging EP that showcases the musical abilities and potential of Granitader. If you like Pagan/Folk Metal music with a heavy dose of epicness, but don’t want to compromise on the heavy side of things, this is a release to keep you entertained.
