Arch Enemy - Blood Dynasty (2025)

cover

As one of the most eagerly awaited releases of 2025, today we have Arch Enemy and their latest opus “Blood Dynasty”. With a long storied career, the stakes are always high when big bands release new albums, and luckily for all, this release delivers in every single aspect. Riding their explosive and highly melodic sound, Alissa White-Gluz and company deliver eleven tracks and over 44 minutes of ravaging music.

Opening with the ripping “Dream Stealer”, we are treated to a prime Arch Enemy song with blistering guitar work, Alissa’s growls, and tons of catchiness. The band’s musicianship can never be questioned, and as tracks like “Illuminate the Path”, “March of Miscreants”, and “A Million Suns” roll around, we get Michael Amott’s signature guitars, well balanced by newcomer Joey Concepcion’s abilities and Sharlee D'Angelo’s thundering bass guitar.

While losing Jeff Loomis is a notable change, Joey Concepcion is a pretty solid replacement, particularly in the twin guitar melodic parts of songs like “Blood Dynasty”, which are as epic as any of the band’s earlier head banging anthems. Shaking things up a bit, “Vivre Libre” creates a very sultry and intoxicating ballad-esque atmosphere with Alissa showcasing her talented clean vocals alongside a slower side to the band, while “Liars & Thieves” even shows some brief Power Metal-esque vibes.

Celebrating the band’s 30 years, “Blood Dynasty” showcases how the band has polished their craft over time, while maintaining their ferocity. Set to embark on a North American tour in April 2025, the band is ready to kick ass and take names with this release and on the stages. Offering everything that the band’s fans would expect and then some, this is certainly one the best releases of 2025 so far.
