Persecutory - The Glorious Persecution (2024)

Packing a lot of heat, today we have Turkey’s Persecutory and their crushing EP “The Glorious Persecution”. Featuring three tracks of total destruction, this release clocks in at 22 minutes of pure brutality. With a very incisive and yet refined sound, this outfit can be compared to the likes of Necrophobic and Necrowretch, creating some truly foul and punishing music.

Opening with the blistering “Infernal Gateways to Watchers”, the band sets a very hectic pace with ravaging riffs and pummeling drumming. The harsh vocals greatly add to the swift brutality of the band’s raw sound, while the moody tempo changes and furiously paced section create total armageddon for the listener. After the blistering opener, “Ecstatic Demonlords” slowly warms up with a trouncing bass guitar line, but does not hold back as it quickly escalates into all-out war.

Saving the longest track, and the most polished one, for last, “The Glorious Persecution” creates a foul and visceral atmosphere that has both a nice retro vibe thanks to its lead guitars, and a more modern explosive approach due to its hellish pace. As a whole, this EP showcases the devilish fury and masterful penmanship of Persecutory. Godz ov War Productions have managed to once again, find a totally crushing band from the vast depths of the Metal scene, so also keep an eye out for any of their releases.
