Amaranthe - Manifest (2020)

cover

The catchiest band in Metal returns in the middle of the pandemic with one of those bombastic releases that will have you entertained from start to finish. With “Manifest”, Amaranthe continues their path of delivering superbly entertaining and epic sounding songs filled with lush vocal arrangements and a good amount of heaviness. With a “if it ain't broke, don't fix it” attitude, the band continues their lively musical path.

Kicking off with the explosive “Fearless”, we instantly get Amaranthe at the top of their game with an over-the-top lush track filled with soaring chorus sections, the juxtaposition of harsh vocals and the lovely siren chants of Elize Ryd, and futuristic synths. This momentum is carried forward with the heavier “Make it Better”, and the playful “Scream My Name”, an expertly crafted piece that unleashes probably some of the catchiest passages in the history of the band.

The band has honed in on a very dynamic and futuristic sound since their last few releases, with tracks like “Viral” and “Adrenaline” sounding like they could have been taken out of “Helix” or “Maximalism”. Our favorite tracks are the soaring “The Game” and “Die and Wake Up”, both filled with crafty guitars, engaging synths and lush vocal arrangements. The band’s three vocalists approach is at the top of their game in this release, showcasing even further integration while delivering killer performances that are both engaging and very energetic.

Closing in style with “Do or Die”, the band leaves you on a high note with yet another superbly dynamic song that showcases the band’s ability to combine multiple styles, moods, and heaviness into coherent and fun songs. Overall, “Manifest” is another brilliant release from this band. We particularly enjoyed that you know exactly what to expect from Amaranthe, and they deliver it with great quality and finesse. If you like catchy and dynamic music, be sure to check this release out.
