Siculicidium - A halál és az iránytű (2019)

cover

Béla Lugosi and Pestifer are back with this short but sweet 7” Siculicidium EP titled “A halál és az iránytű”. Always crafting a truly unique and foul sound, this Romanian outfit unleashes two powerful tracks that will generate expectations of what is to come in the future.

Opening with the clean intro of “A halál”, this tracks slowly builds up to a cool Black’n’Roll-ish guitar section that gives a certain twangy vibe to the song. Béla Lugosi’s deep vocals perfectly fit the funky tempo of this track, mostly marked by the Punk-ish drum patterns.

Side B delivers a more atmospheric and oppressive piece with “Az iránytű”, and the usual madness and shenanigans from the band. While the guitars are your sweet raw and direct BM type, the overall atmosphere is quite playful and decadent. We particularly enjoy the improvisational interlude that changes the pace of the song.

While we haven’t always been fans of everything that Siculicidium puts out, this EP is actually quite amusing and entertaining. The band’s bizarre take on the genre is quite effective in creating catchy songs that are heavy and powerful, but still show a little bit of madness. If you like weird sounding catchy Black Metal, this is the release for you.
