Enemy Reign - Means To A Dead End (2008)

cover

For the countless fans of Death Metal we have today a pretty solid band from the USA called Enemy Reign. These Colorado based outfit present us with their very brutal EP called “Means To A Dead End”.

The band features nothing ‘original’ about their music, other than the fact that is fast paced and brutal. It follows all the traditional elements of Death Metal: The furious drumming, blazing guitar riffs and hooks, and subhuman growls.

While I’m not saying that Enemy Reign is bad, we just think that is one of those releases that are just indifferent. We do think that for a Death Metal release “Means To A Dead End” is pretty solid and worth the money if you are looking for another album to add to your collection of similar sounding music.

All the instruments are very well played and the band has ‘catchy’ songs, but other than that there is not a lot of originality in this release. The production and mixing was handled by Dave Otero and gives the band the rich and brutal sound that one would expect from a Death Metal release. The guitar work in particular sounds great in this EP.

So If you are a DM fan and want another solid release get this album. But if you are looking for something different and maybe a little more creative look for another release since this one is a very ‘by the book’ album. Nothing wrong about this, since “Means To A Dead End” is a very solid release for the genre.
