Always pushing the envelope, French bands have managed to craft some of the most interesting Metal albums of the past few years. Today is the turn for Necroblaspheme and their crushing Atmospheric mixture of Black/Death/Sludge Metal, on their third full-length release “Belleville”. Featuring members and ex-members of Glaciation, this outfit delivers a very unique sounding mixture of elements that will entertain all fans of any of the genres they combine. Opening with the dissonant riffs of “Rempart”, the band crafts a very thick and sickening atmosphere that weaves back and forth between aggressive vocals and catchy guitar melodies. As “Le discours du bitumen” and the instrumental “How Did We Get There” roll in, we start to see the band’s true intentions with their highly aggressive wall of sound that brilliantly transforms over the duration of each track. The sludgy Black Metal brutality of “Two Trees” and “Waiting to Exhale” are two of our favorite tracks. Here the band incorporates modern Black Metal elements with sludgy piercing riffs to create a very unique and devastating sound. There are some crushing headbanging passages that should demolish live audiences. Throwing instrumental/atmospheric pieces in tracks 3, 5 and 7 allows the band to fully frame the uniqueness of the band’s songs and provide the listener a little breather before the next onslaught. Allowing themselves some time to experiment, tracks like “The Grande Boars Haunting” and “Gouffre” are quite unique as they present very interesting ideas perfectly carved into the band’s complex sound. After closing with the impressive “Such a Lot”, the band left us with great intentions to keep track of their musical progression in the future. Crafting very unique and complex songs allows Necroblaspheme to grab the listener’s attention and command their respect. If you like unique and pretty atmospheric Metal music with harsh vocals, give these guys a try. |
