Greatly improving since their 2013 demo, today we have Finland’s Torchia and their killer Melodic Death Metal with some Thrash elements. We love watching bands evolve over time and Torchia is the perfect example of a solid transition and evolution into a very promising new band. Featuring three songs filled with melodic passages and killer production, this is one of the best demos we have received in 2015. Opening with the demo title track, the band instantly sets a very upbeat tempo with catchy guitar riffs and a very melodic vibe. This song has that Finish Melodic Death Metal sound engraved into its core, and we love it. The guitar solos are amazing and pair perfectly with the massive drumming we can appreciate in this release. If your head didn’t fall off after the first song, “My Land Shall Burn”, continues the party with a heavier Thrash influence. This track’s growls are a bit deeper and slower, accommodating a more robust pace. Again, the guitar solos totally elevate this song with their very well timed efforts. Saving the best for last, “They Haunt Behind Us” is one hell of a song that nicely showcases just how good Torchia has gotten over the years. Coming in around 5 minutes, this song has brilliant melodic passages, chugging Death Metal riffs, and an overall vibe that makes you want to start moshing. In this track the band really demonstrates that they can write crafty and catchy songs without all of them sounding just the same. Overall, “Ending Beginning” is one killer demo that should put Torchia in the spotlight. The band has greatly improved in every single department, and with their new vocalist, they are ready to take the scene by surprise. If you like killer riffs, blistering solos, and superb drumming all put together in a nice Melodic Death Metal package, look no further and get a copy of this short but sweet demo. |
