Bradley Tatum – Punk Eternal (2012)

cover

Returning after his very solid and enjoyable 2011 release “It's A Beautiful World”, today we have Bradley Tatum and his uncompromising old-school Punk Rock. Filled with catchy melodies and interesting combination of elements, “Punk Eternal” delivers thirteen tracks of back-to-the-basics music that is both enjoyable and very well crafted.

With a very traditional musical approach, Bradley Tatum immediately grabs your attention with the opener “The Realm of Silver” and its super catchy riffing and warm vocals. Song after song, this release is filled with little details that break the monotony and make each song memorable, for example the subtle keyboards of “Life Returns” or the hypnotic female vocals in “Terminal Love”.

Other songs in this release feature very back to the basics Punk Rock with a darker and more ‘Goth’ vibe to them, for example, “It’s No Secret”, “I Don’t Like You Anymore”, and “On This Autumn Night”. If diversity is what you are looking for, “Sacred Place” is a very nice tune that will totally catch you by surprise, but it is actually pretty enjoyable. The same can be said about the very odd and aggressive “The Faded Image”, a song that we can’t quite understand what is doing in this release, but it is indeed a very different track.

Our favorite song is the catchy “Nocturnal Seduction” and its very funky guitars and obscure vibe to it. In general, with a very DIY feeling, this release is one of those albums that take you back to simpler times when music was warm and direct, rather than completely overdone thanks to the amounts of ‘studio magic’ that other bands exploit in their albums. If you like Punk Rock with a dark edge, be sure to head over to Bradley’s page and get a copy of this very catchy release.
