Our favorite Industrial Metal degenerates are back with a very pleasant release with “Perstechnique”. After being blown away by them live (read here). We are huge fans from this completely under-rated beast of a band. The band’s previous releases intoxicate fans with brilliant dual-vocal attacks (courtesy of MC Raaka Pee and Spellgoth) and super catchy electronic elements (courtesy of RunQ of Tarot and Eternal Tears of Sorrow fame). In “Perstechnique” the band reinforces their position as one of the best bands of the genre and hopefully this leads to world domination (and touring). There are a few songs in English and while the rest are in Finish, we don’t really care since the music is so catchy and intoxicating. The beats of tracks like “Grand Ball”, “Hanska” and “Hellhound Earth” are just magical. Opening with “Grand Ball”, we immediately think somebody managed to sneak one of those DJ mixes into our sound system, but once the guitars and the vocals come, we know we have the correct CD. For an opening track, “Grand Ball” builds nice momentum and keeps things grooving. The album’s first single “Ihmisixsixsix” is pretty catchy and equally powerful. The next great song comes under the name of “Hanska” and its very attention grabbing opening section, we can only wish we knew what the band was saying. Our favorite song of this album has to be “Hellbound Earth” and its melodic sections that will make you want to start headbanging and moshing immediately. The video game-like passages of “Lapset Ja Vanhemmat” makes this a very different song from the rest and very appealing as well. If you are looking for a pre-clubbing anthem, look no further with “Herran Toinen Tuleminen”. The supper catchy “Verta Sataa” is probably the most ‘danceable’ song in this release featuring powerful guitars and vocals perfectly paired with brilliant electronics. The closing track “Vedetäänkö Vai Ei?" is a pretty solid mixture of most elements shown through the album with some Female vocals thrown in the mix and a sickly intoxicating atmosphere. Is Turmion Kätilöt one of the sickest bands in the world? Hell yeah!. Due to their hard work and very creative and effective song-writing, the band is quickly rising up the ranks of the genre and has been stirring trouble and controversy in Finland for quite a while. We can only hope that they are finally ready to take on the world with their sick messages and hyper-catchy tunes. While most ignorant people might see them as ‘Ramstein-clones’ and tons of similar associations, this band is very far from them and delivers a very unique and truly enjoyable listening experience (and a very effective and sick live show, read here) |
