The Project Hate MCMXCIX - Bleeding the New Apocalypse (Cum Victriciis In Manibus Armis) (2011)

cover

The all-star The Project Hate MCMXCIX is back with another crushing release of catchy Industrial and Progressive Death Metal, and with this release they sound as good as ever. With probably one of the longest album titles ever, “Bleeding the New Apocalypse” (for short) delivers over one hour of pure deranged catchiness in 6 tracks.

Featuring a new female vocalist, Ruby Roque of Witchbreed and Tobias Gustafsson as the new drummer, the band’s sound is even better than on their previous releases. For those of you wondering how Ruby vocals feature on the band, just imagine Madder Mortem with Industrial elements and you will get the perfect idea.

The album opens with the progressive DM piece “Iesus Nazarenus, Servus Mei”. In this song the band goes around their usual antics of using deranged electronic beats paired with Death Metal growls and pounding guitars. The female vocals are very well introduced a few minutes into the song and sound as good as you can get, perfectly fitting such high-energy music and nicely contrasting the harsh vocals.

In the first 10+ minute song “They Shall All Be Witnesses”, the band introduces sick atmospheric elements with the massive keyboards. We also have some excellent drumming sections and some powerful riffing. The beats and weirdness make their way near the end of the track providing a very climatic ending to the song. The catchiness of “A Revelation of Desecrated Heavens” is the main focus of this song and the ripping solo near the 7 minute mark is just plain brilliant.

In case you think this album is less industrial, sections of “Summoning Majestic War” will immediately change your mind. If you are looking for something more straight forward, “The Serpent Crowning Ritual” has exactly what the doctor ordered plus the traditional Project Hate weirdness infused into the song. The album closes with the monumental and apocalyptic “Bring Forth Purgatory”, in this track we get some straight-forward Death Metal sections blended in-between the band’s traditional sound with such grace and brilliance.

If you are still not surprised by the described quality of the music, this release also features guest appearances by: Mike Wead, Magnus Söderman, Christian Älvestam, Leif Edling and Jocke Widfeldt. If you liked the band’s previous albums and prefer to stay on the more Metal side of Industrial Metal, you should definitely get “Bleeding the New Apocalypse (Cum Victriciis In Manibus Armis)”
