Havok – Time is up (2011)

cover

After their solid debut album “Burn”, Havok is back with their crushing Thrash Metal sound with “Time is up”. This new release features 10 tracks and 42 minutes of non-stop Thrash Metal music that will blow your speakers off. Unlike all the copycat bands, Havok is influencing their sound with modern elements and with a crystal clear production that puts them in the same caliber are the greats of the genre Exodus, Forbidden, etc.

With the opening track aptly titled “Prepare for Attack”, the band unleashes their musical skills with sick tracks that will have you headbanging from the first minute. The guitar riffing is even better than on their “Burn” album, and the catchiness of the songs is unrivaled.

All Thrash Metal fans will love this release since after careful analysis, we can’t really find any tracks that are weak or feel like you’ve heard them before, something really rare these days. The solos are very well outlined in tracks (e.g. “Fatal Intervention”) and will blow you away in tracks like “Scumbag in Disguise” when the band goes on into full guitar masturbation mode around the 2nd minute.

Other tracks as “The Cleric” and “Out of my Way” have a bit of an old Metallica feeling but are quickly imprinted with the band’s dynamic sound. The drumming is this album is very well mixed and sounds considerably better than most ‘newbie’ Thrash bands these days. The bass guitar is pounding away through the album, but at first you won’t even pay attention to it when enjoying the guitars. The vocals are very standard and provide the right ‘Thrashy’ feeling to the songs, never getting annoying or in the way of the brilliant music.

With a higher pace than their first release, “Time is Up” is definitely the must buy album of this early months of 2011. We are sure this album will secure the band’s name in history and will surely get them more exposure in other markets. If you are a Thrash fanatic and want to be completely blown away, then pre-order this release as soon as you can.
