Ptahil – The Black Fire (2010)

cover

In preparation for their upcoming full-length CD for Wraith Productions "For His Satanic Majesty's Glory", we get 3 crushing tracks of nihilistic Black/Doom Metal from one of USA’s newest and most diabolical bands. For 13 minutes we are transported to the depts. of hell, thanks to a raw and thick atmosphere that evolves you in full darkness.

With two new tracks and a cover of Beherit’s “Gate of Nanna”, this demo CD has enough sauce to keep fans going until their new album gets released. The crushing track “World Ablaze” kicks off this CD and immediately starts with blasting drums, hellish vocals and a very raw nature to the song that makes it highly effective. We are not sure that this will be the final mix and how the CD will sound, but we dig the rawness of this track.

Next up we have “The Black Fire” a ‘doomier’ track that shows how the band incorporates slower and more painful tempos in their music to create a very thick satanic atmosphere. Almost 4 minutes long, this track shows the different side of the Ptahil beast and makes us believe their new album will be a killer one.

Closing the demo we have “Gate of Nanna” a very well crafted cover of Beherit that captures the essence of both bands perfectly. The hellish vocals will make you have nightmares for days, so be prepared for this destructive aural assault.

If the band’s new album follows the path of the two songs presented here, then we are sure it will be a killer one. So if you like Black Metal with some Doom elements, then wait no longer and get the band’s back catalogue and prepare for fucking destruction with “For His Satanic Majesty's Glory” in the near future.
