Turmion Katilot – U.S.C.H (2008)

I've never heard of this band before I walked inside of Tavastia during the first night of the club shows that occured during Tuska 2008. And after their set was done, I was one more fan of this band.

While their stage costumes made me believe they where going to play some type of grind/gore music, it was the opposite. Suddenly some beats started going on the background and I was in for quite an experience.

Turmion Katilot's musical style is industrial metal, and in this release they feature some of the catchiest beats they have made until now.

This album was released on the internet for free since they had some conflicts with their label. So I quickly downloaded it and it's been in constant rotation on my playlist until now (1 year later!!). I can listen to this album for hours and not get bored with it.

The band's catchy beats, and aggressive guitars provide the perfect balance of 2 worlds. The 2 different vocalists add and extra dimension to the music, and while their vocal ranges are not too different, they make the music sound more dynamic.
From the second track onwards I'm hooked into their crazy world. The lyrics are all in Suomi, but you can find English translations for them online. And they are pretty insane. Their own little universe is pretty bizarre (just watch their video clip).
Besides the stage antics and weird concept, this band is very solid musically and very entertaining to listen and watch live. This album takes you into a bizarre land of catchy beats, harsh vocals and heavy guitar melodies. After a few spins you won’t be able to get out of your head the beats of several songs like: “U.S.C.H”, “.
The album production is excellent in every aspect. And the only problem I have with it is that is not long enough.

If you like industrial metal, keep an eye for this Finish band since they have what it takes to get everybody immersed in their own little sick world.
