Corrosive Carcass – Rot.In.Pieces (2010)

cover

Hailing from Sweden, today we have a very catchy demo from Corrosive Carcass and their old-school Swedish Death Metal. In “Rot.In.Pieces” this relatively new band gives us 7 tracks totaling 18 minutes of neck breaking old-school Death Metal. While the production is a bit on the ‘raw’ side of things, the overall sound of the band will take you back in time quite a few years.

Having a raw and gritty sound actually helps Corrosive Carcass get the old-school vibe going for most of the duration of this very effective demo. Most songs are under 3 minutes and feature a hefty amount of catchy riffs, tight drumming and somewhat standard growls and screams.

In terms of the songs, after the very funny intro lines of “The Flesh is not enough” the band explodes into a whirlwind sound of crushing distorted riffs, demonic vocals and tight drumming. Not much can it be said in terms of originality for Corrosive Carcass, but they do get the old (very old) Entombed vibe combined with some old Morgoth, Sinister, Morbid Angel hints.

Most songs feature catchy riffs and memorable (and simple) melodies that are the core behind older Death Metal. If you are a fan of the early days of the genre, you will definitely enjoy such a raw and chaotic release. While there is still plenty of room and time for this band to improve their songwriting skills and sound, we have to recognize that this demo is a pretty solid effort to get their name out there.
