hYPNOTIC hYSTERIA – Feed On Me (2010)

cover

With a very interesting mixture of Alternative Metal/Rock with some Post-Metal/Rock influences we have hYPNOTIC hYSTERIA from Italy. The band does a great job at sounding like nobody else does by borrowing many influences from ‘commercially’ stable bands as well as the brilliant underground pool of Post-Metal/Rock bands.

One thing we immediately agree on is that the band creates very hypnotic atmospheres that are very well crafted. This shows great songwriting skills from the band and makes “Feed On Me” a very interesting release to have. We must say that this band can generate a following from both the ‘commercial’ world and the underground.

During the 7 songs presented in “Feed On Me” we have at least 5 that are very solid, something that is rare these days, when more than half the album is usually shit. The band’s vocalist has a great voice that is very diverse and allows him to sound like the dude from Clutch mixed with the douchebag from Tool. The overall production of this album greatly helps his voice and we hope is not just a case of ‘studio magic’.

Weaving Alternative Metal/Rock melodies with Post-Metal/Rock passages is one thing this band excels at. They craft very nice and intricate atmospheric/melodic passages with catchy melodies, creating a very nice atmosphere through the album. We wouldn’t be surprised if this band makes it into being one of the Indie scene wonders with their well crafted (and commercially safe) sound.

“Feed On Me” is one of those albums that has all the ingredients needed for a solid release: a brilliant production, a characteristic vocalist, and well composed music. We sure hope this band gets the attention they need and continue making solid albums.
