Interview with Satan’s Host (Elixir)

Infernal Masquerade: What was the main reason behind the switch between playing Power Metal in the 80’s to the current Black/Death Metal style in your most recent albums?

Elixir:  Evolution.  Ability to hybrid many different styles of metal that has evolved since the 80’s.  As with the strength to experiment with other styles into our grotto, and develop a whole new sound towards the future.  Not to mention that we have had a revolving door of band members since then as well, thou this Legacy has never stopped producing Metal from Hell…666

I.M: You guys took a ‘break’ for almost 13 years, what made the band get back together and continue to make music under the moniker “Satan’s Host”?

Elixir:  Well, actually there was a time of Magick Manifesting from the late 80’s into the early 90’s which was about six years.  For more info. on this period go to www.SatansHost.com, click on the Biography Link and scroll down to this particular era of time in the bands history. 

I.M: What is the main concept or ideas behind “Power "Purity" Perfection...999”?

Elixir:  It is the culmination of a decade in Luciferian Practices put into Metal on a single album. As with evolving what Anton Lavey was tapping with in the 60’s, in the perfect number 9.  We stacked this concept in triplets, then giving words to represent this perfect number.  Creating a three part concept with this newest Satan’s Host album.  It is about the attainment of the Individual who practices this Luciferian Art.  In the ability to better him / herself in these times of diluted sustenance and quality of life.  It is a personal reflection of what we as Luciferians strive too attain in our lives, both in this band as with in the music and in our personal existence.

I.M: If you had two sentences to promote your album, what would you say about it?

Elixir: The Epic evolution in Pure Melodic Satanic Metal.  Where the listener gets more Metal Music for their hard earned money that is spent…. Hail Satan…666

I.M: How do you think the metal scene has evolved since the old days to it’s current state?

Elixir:  The music has grown into a more diverse genera, it has evolved into a variety of degrees.  There are more individuals who are embracing this Primal Art form, and it is being more and more accepted on an International level. While there are more outlets to express this Metal, video, Internet radio, web pages, more and more Festivals around the world.  Over all its acceptance in every day life amongst the Metal Maniacs on a World Wide 9 level.

I.M: What would you say is the element that makes Satan’s Host standout from other bands in the same genre?

Elixir:  Our use of Melody and tempo changes, as with the Dark Poetry of Intellect in the Lyrics.  The way we craft our songs, and give an array of color and emotion unto them.  The Leads are like none other in this genres of Metal, filled with emotion and style.  We are the most organic four piece group, than any other Satanic Metal Band in the World.  Our productions are truly in league with that of the high dollar productions of these present times, some of the best in the underground Metal world at large.  We are True, We are the Real Deal, We are Satan’s Host…666 

I.M: Since the band formed the Internet and technology has evolved enough to make music more accessible, easier to record and as the downside piracy has flourished, what is your opinion on this? Do you think these things had a positive impact on the scene, or do you think it has tainted the scene?

Elixir:  Well, it makes it easier for one to get their ears on the Metal that you desire for listen, as with the visual or videos of the group.  Though it has changed the industry completely.  So it has killed the days of trading tapes and getting personal letters from your favorite artists.  It has its Pros and it has its Cons, got to take the good with the bad when it comes to the computer revolution.

I.M: If you guys had unlimited money for a live performance, what props and stage set up would you use?

Elixir:  Damn! That would be a dream come true.  It would be a Satanic Ritual in a very big Ceremonial format.  Alters, Sigils, Fire, Inverted crosses, naked witches, Blood, goats heads, Swords, Pentagrams, Videos of Magickal symbolism, Satanic Theatrics, in the Black Arts.  My band would have some new clothes to wear live and represent in a professional manner.  Lol!!
