Interview with Nazxul

Interview with Nazxul:

In the eve of the release of their long awaited "Iconoclast" album and their first American tour, we had a chance to present the band with a few questions, and here is what they had to say:

It’s been 14 years since your last full length release, why did Nazxul took so long in releasing another full length album (with out counting the EP, split’s, etc in between)?

The absence of Nazxul from the public eye was a conscious decision to dissapear. The group had  no want of involvement in what was happening around them. We have been working solidly on various projects since the time of Totems release but felt it wasnt ready to be exposed. The Iconoclast work was completed in late 2008, and when it was finished we knew it was to to awaken the beast once more. The nazxul will live again, and torment the globe.

What do you think has changed in the Black Metal scene, since the days you guys formed (1993) and now?

Not alot has changed the same backward mentalities run rampant. The misconstrued ideas of production seem to have gotten worse, but apart from that there is so brilliant newer bands with the right intent and vision.

What is the concept behind “Iconoclast” (and/or what ideas are behind the lyrics)?

The concept is basically the internal battle each human being faces. Be it in the mundane world such as freedom of choice, fredom of identity or in the spirtual sense of freedom. It is about rebellion. Cast down the chains that bind, Resist the temptation and lies being rammed down your throats. Stand and be counted, fight back!

What is the main driving force behind Nazxul, both in inspiration and desire to make music?

Musically the inspiration comes from a quest to try and challenge ourselves, to achieve something we can look at and be proud of. Something that touches us and the listener. The songs are keys formulated to achieve certain states of consciousness. To unlock certain aspects of the individuals psyche. To rise above the vegetative states of this mortal coil. There is a lot of religious and occult theories in the material hidden within allegories. This is for the listener to decipher.

We recently learned that Nazxul will be performing in the USA are you guys looking forward to have some live dates on this side of the world?

The band is very excited about spreading our violence and beauty to the American public.
This will be our first voyage to the Americas and we look forward to forming new alliegences and wreaking havoc.

The band’s musical sound remains raw and primitive, like true Black Metal should be. Do you guys think this could change in the future, based on new influences or other musical factors?

The Nazxul sound is its own being each release just is what it is. Stylistically Nazxul wont change.

Any bands you would want to recommend for our readers and followers of Nazxul?

Some bands to watch out for are the following: Austere, Pestilential Shadows, Drowning The Light, Woods of Desolation, Nox Inferi, Erebus Enthroned.

Anything else you want to add for your fans and our readers?

Thanks for the support and we hope to see all you lunatics at the shows.
Nazxul is dead all Hail Nazxul!

Thanks for the interview, good luck promoting the new album and looking forward to see you guys on tour in the USA!
