Interview With Echoes Of Eternity

Interview With Echoes Of Eternity:

We had time to ask a few questions to Brandon S.Patton from Echoes Of Eternity about their upcoming album "As Shadows Burns" here is what he had to say about our questions.

Thanks for the interview and let's get started with the questions:

I.M: It's been 2 years since "The Forgotten Goddes" can you please tell us more about the whole process of writing and recording your new album: "As Shadows Burn"?

Some of the material, like the intro to "The Scarlet Embrace", I wrote back in 1996!!! I had that riff lying around for years before we blew the dust off of it and wrote a song based around it. A song like "Ten Of Swords" was written shortly after the release of our first album, so it sounds like it could have been on that album. We recorded the album with Logan Mader, ex guitarist for Machine head and a metal producer/mixer who did the most recent Gojira album. He has an awesome ear for sonic detail and our album sounds incredible.

I.M: What can you say it's the main difference both musically and lyrically between the two albums?

"As Shadows Burn" is much darker and executed with far more passion. confidence and conviction. It has a far more prominent black metal/death metal influence than before. It has a wide range of metal styles and influences. "Twilight Fires" almost sounds like Madonna singing for Morbid Angel if you can imagine that!!! So I think it sounds unique and stands apart from every single other female fronted band I have ever heard.

I.M: Can you please tell us more about the concept or ideas behind "As Shadows Burn"?

There is a thematic thread that runs through the album but no intentional "concept." The themes are much more personal and concern issues of love and loss, life and death, sanity and insanity and struggles within oneself.

I.M: How do you expect fans of the band and other metal heads will receive the new album? I can't fucking wait for them to hear it!!!!! They will find it to be a much more musically satisfying record filled with a shitload of KILLER riffs, blast beats and some of the best female vocals they've ever heard. And we did a 7 minute instrumental that fuckling slays!

I.M: Being from the US and playing a very peculiar style of Metal (Prog/Gothic Metal) was it hard for Echoes Of Eternity to break into the scene and get recognition?

I'm not sure we would label ourselves as gothic. We are a female-fronted band, but not gothic in the bombastic, Nightwish, Sirenia, European sense. We sound absolutely nothing like the bands from Europe. We have a distinctly more aggressive and riff-oriented approach to the music that is undeniably American. Add to that Francine's vocals and we have our own sound, love it or hate it, its our sound. Most bands spend years developing their signature sound. On "As Shadows Burn" we have found ours.

I.M: What was the idea behind fusing Gothic and Progressive Metal together?

The idea was to combine the aggression and technical nature of extreme metal with the beauty and dynamics of the female voice. It was not executed well on the first album. But on "As Shadows Burn" I feel we really fucking nailed it.

I.M: Any touring planned in support of "As Shadows Burn"?

We want to tour in 2010!!! We will not this record go unsupported. We spent too much time and sacrificed way too much to just let it go...

I.M: Any other things you guys want to add for your fans and our readers?

If you want to see bands like us out on the road, buy the music legitimately. Tour slots are based on record sales. If you love the band, its critical that you purchase the music in a legit way. And if you liked our first album, you will NOT be disappointed when you purchase As Shadows Burn!!

Thanks for the interview and good luck with the promotion of the new album
Thank you!!!!
-Brandon S.Patton
