Cantata Sangui - On Rituals And Correspondence in Constructed Realities (2009)

This is one of the most interesting bands I’ve found recently, apparently they have been around for a while releasing several demos in a span of several years, and just now released their debut album through Seasons Of Mist.

This band hails from Finland and features members from Enochian Crescent, and their musical style is very unique I must say, they mix death/black and gothic metal in a very weird way.

The band has a main female singer and two secondary female vocalists that also perform other duties in the band (bass player and keyboard player), and for a very weird reason (or maybe originality) they feature two bass players and no guitar player, no wonder I thought the ‘guitar’ sounded funny in this album.

The male vocals are pretty decent in this release and fit the music perfectly. I have to say that when all the elements are combined with the luscious keyboard melodies this band’s unique style comes to life.

After listening to the album I went and researched the band some more on their website and their myspace page and discovered that their lyrics are very interesting and provide more in depth understanding to their music. I must say that this band is very enigmatic (like Enochian Crescent it self), and the aura around it is very interesting and mystical, and their music is a perfect companion for the bands concept.

I would definitely recommend this album for anybody looking for something new and different. And I’ll be trying to catch this band live when ever I can.
