The Shiva Hypothesis – Promo 2015 (2015)

cover

As one of the best releases to appear on our magical postal box, today we have The Shiva Hypothesis and their demoralizing 2015 3-song promo. Featuring an imposing sound similar to bands like Behemoth, Vesania and even Dimmu Borgir minus all the fluffy shit, this Dutch band delivers 20 minutes of brutal music that will rattle your speakers from start to end.

Opening with the incisive riffing of “Caduceus”, The Shiva Hypothesis starts its journey pummeling the listener with devilish vocals provided mainly by MVS, and some killer drum patterns. As a package, this band is firing with all cylinders, allowing all elements to perfectly blend together crafting an oppressive atmosphere.

The brutal onslaught continues with the disturbing interesting throat singing opening of “Praedormitium” which sets a very eerie vibe to the song. This is nicely enhanced by more killer melodic riffs and awesome vocal arrangements that are quite unsettling and perfectly used in this context. Closing with the 9-minute epic “Maze of Delusion”, the band continues its musical onslaught with some perfect headbanging riffs and tight drumming. The vocals continue to perfectly elevate the level of brutality thanks to their harshness.

As a whole, The Shiva Hypothesis have managed to produce a 3-song promo that is certainly better than 90% of all the music we get to listen to at Infernal Masquerade. We can only hope this band ends with a label like Agonia Records (or similar) that knows how to fully showcase their unique talents and excellent musical skills. If you are looking for a brutal and yet melodic mixture of Death and Black Metal, this is the release for you.
