Chemical Way – U.F.NO! (2013)

cover

Playful Thrash/Crossover Canadian mongers deliver their debut EP release titled “U.F.NO!”. Featuring five tracks full of attitude and catchy riffing, Chemical Way is ready to compete with bands like Municipal Waste and Suicidal Tendencies for the Thrash/Crossover crown.

Taking us back in time to the early 90’s with its riffing, “E.H.P.S.C.A” blows things wide open with a furious pace and intense drumming. In terms of production, we can only wish that albums back in the day sounded as good as this one, since we can fully appreciate every little cymbal and the imperfections in some of the vocals. Keeping the retro vibe alive, “You’re Erased!” delivers a playful movie intro and a very chaotic song structure.

With a commanding guitar sound, “Chain Reaction” is a standout track filled with mellow headbanging moments. In turn, “Blood and Oil” has more of a D.R.I / Punkish feeling with hectic vocals and a very anarchist vibe. The Thrash-iest moment in this release was saved for last with the pummeling opening of “Final Crapper”, making this the best track thanks to its crushing riffs and overall intensity.

As a whole “U.F NO!” is one short but sweet release that will pummel your ears and bring back those glorious days of the 90’s when Thrash/Crossover was in its hay day and people were all about attitude over pose. If you nostalgically remember those days, then you should keep an eye out for Chemical Way and their music filled with attitude and passion.
