Vision Divine – Destination Set To Nowhere (2012)

cover

Today we have Fabio Leone’s ‘side-band’ called Vision Divine and their killer seventh full-length released titled “Destination Set To Nowhere”. Already having released one of the most impressive albums with Rhapsody of Fire, Fabio delivers another excellent vocal performance in a thrilling Power/Progressive Metal release that is both extremely catchy and technically proficient. If you are a fan of Power/Progressive Metal, you don’t want to miss this majestic release.

Opening with the ethereal mood setter “S'io Fosse Foco” the band leave a certain feeling lingering in the air that what’s next to come will be: EPIC. The real opener “Dream Maker” kicks things off with excellent vocal sections and equally exciting melodic parts. The keyboards nicely set the atmosphere and the perfectly crafted piano/solo sections are pure magic, but the true winner here is the mega-catchy chorus section.

Blowing all the fireworks in the first few minutes is not a problem that Vision Divine has since they keep delivering excellent tracks like “Beyond The Sun And Far Away” (sounding like mixture of Stratovarius and Rhapsody), “The Ark”, the futuristic “The Ark” and they playful “Mermaids From Their Moons” (featuring killer guitar sections). This last song is one of our favorite tracks due to the excellent mixture of technical proficiency and catchiness that the band achieves in just a five minute song.

Switching things up a bit with the melancholic “Message To Home”, we are treated to more guitar greatness courtesy of Olaf Thörsen and Federico Puleri. The piano/keyboard sections of Alessio "Tom" Lucatti make this track very dramatic and nicely accentuate Fabio’s mellow vocals. Really shaking things up, the band goes full-on H.I.M mode with the weird but excellent “The Sin Is You”. Any fan of the band H.I.M and Gothic Rock/Metal will cream themselves with this track, but we particularly like that Vision Divine added their Power Metal elements into the mixing making this song very unique and our favorite of the release.

“Destination Set To Nowhere” is indeed very amazing and diverse album, Vision Divine has excellent musicians and they clearly show it in every single track. The band is not afraid of throwing in a few different things into the core Power/Progressive Metal sound and they all work wonders in this release. Tracks like “The Sin is You” is a clear example of how well different genres can blend when you have a brilliant band doing the mixing. If you are a Power/Progressive Metal fan, this is one release you can’t afford to miss (we’ve said it twice.. so we really really mean it).
