Banda de la Muerte – Pulso de una mente maldita (2012)

cover

As one of the catchiest releases we have received in quite a while, today we have Banda de la Muerte’s second full-length release “Pulso de una mente maldita”. In this Stoner Metal/Rock release, these Argentineans create very effective songs that feature powerful guitars and a great sense of melody, making each song very unique and memorable.

With a very imposing attitude, this band truly owns each song and sounds with such a determination that is rare to find these days. Opening with the driven “Te estas dejando mentir”, the guitars take front stage and never let go. The riffing is powerful and the bass guitar line is very well marked. Immediately we can hear the crystal clear production behind this release, allowing us to fully enjoy this release.

The catchy chorus sections of “Parte de mi historia”, fully showcase the band’s vocalist Xoni’s abilities to create effective vocal melodies that will incite riots. The riffing machine continues with the very entertaining “El Miedo” and “Tiempo Muerto”. In this last song, the more melodic approach to this track makes it very dynamic and quite different from the first 3 songs. This song also focuses more on the Rock side of things and shows that the band can easily switch to a more ‘radio-friendly’ sound without even breaking a sweat.

Looking for some punk? “El sol salio del sur” will give you 54 seconds to get that out of your system. “En contra del destino” and “Espiritu en paz” keep delivering waves of catchiness, and keep the mood very dynamic in this release. Winding down the release, we have the power ballad “Pulso de una mente maldita”. This very mellow track is our favorite due to the very melodic aspect of it and the contrasting pulsating guitars that give this track a very awesome live feeling to it.

If you are looking for a Stoner Rock/Hard Rock album with some Metal elements, “Pulso de una mente maldita” is for you. Most of the songs and music in this release is very radio-friendly, but it is also so damn good that it will have you hitting the play button as soon as it is over.
