Intervention - Growing Line of Caskets (2011)

cover

All the way from the artic circle in Finland, today we have the Thrash-tastic 3rd demo of Intervention called “Growing Line of Caskets”. In this very effective demo, the band presents us with 3 tracks and around 16 minutes of excellently crafted Thrash-infused Death Metal tracks that will surely take you by surprise.

Starting with “The Mortal Shell of Man”, the band quickly makes a strong impression with excellent Thrash riffing, elaborate drumming and a three-prong attack on vocals. This song is very well crafted and shows a level of maturity far superior to other bands that are signed to bigger labels. The band’s sound is dynamic enough to be both modern and ‘classical’ sounding at the same time.

In “Rattlesnake Skin and Forked Tongue”, the band shows a more melodic side of things and gives us some hints of the all-mighty Death. The bass guitar paired with the catchy riffing works wonderfully in this song and the screams just provide the icing on the cake. The solos are very well placed and greatly add to the epic feeling of this song, which in turn is our favorite of this demo.

To close the demo we have “Growing Line of Caskets”, a song that is very reminiscent of older Death/Thrash Metal releases but with a crystal clear production that will blow you away. In this song the catchy chorus sections are very well mixed in between fast-paced guitar sections. This song progresses very nicely and around the last minute everything converges brilliantly.

In general, we are nicely surprised by the quality of this demo. The band does a great job in creating catchy and effective tracks. While there is nothing completely revolutionary, the songs are nicely put together and can ignite some crazy mosh-pits. We hope to see this band getting label attention in the future since they have all the right elements to command it.
