BAHIMIRON
Texan black metal cult BAHIMIRON are currently working on a new album for MORIBUND. Reports drummer Blaash, the band’s as-yet-untitled next album will be a combination of last year’s Southern Nihilizm and the unholy primitivism of VON. Recording will be sporadic throughout the year, with a view to release the album in early 2010 at the very latest. Most recently, Blaash completed some “sloppy, razor-slashin’ drum tracks at Big Door Studios,” with a view to go back in May to put down some bass tracks and perhaps some more drums. As of right now, tentative song titles are “Blind Pain in the Carrion Eye,” “Serpent Blood Anoint My Flesh,” “In the Name of the Blighted,” and “Bladed Inferno,” although all are subject to change, Blaash says.
In other BAHIMIRON news, the licensed vinyl version of Southern Nihilizm will be released imminently by Graveless Slumber Records, and the band are putting the final touches on a split CD with Unchrist, also to be released by Graveless Slumber. BROWN JENKINS
Mesmerizing black-doom monolith BROWN JENKINS have currently finished writing for their next (and final) album, Death Obsession. The album will be seven tracks and 40-plus minutes, and will also feature artwork by Dennis Dread (Darkthrone, Abscess, Phobia). Reports mainman UA, the music on Death Obsession is “much heavier/darker than Angel Eyes but also catchier, more intense. It combines some of the slowest stuff I've written so far with some of the most abstract/aggressive. The songwriting is also very different...much more technical, I guess. DODSFERD
The hardest-working man in black metal, DODSFERD mainman Wrath continues his streak of destruction with Suicide and the Rest of Your Kind Will Follow, his second album in less than a year. Slated for release on May 5th, the album is a two-track/33-minute journey into the DODSFERD psyche, Wrath’s bleakest and most desolate record yet. “Epic” is one way to describe it – “mandatory” is the other! Reports guitarist Kelly Kuciemba, “DRAWN AND QUARTERED and MORIBUND RECORDS have been compiling the materials for the upcoming Assault Of Evil DVD. Odin has done a fantastic job with the layout, which includes an expanded view of the Gabriel Byrne painting from Merciless Hammer Of Lucifer and live photos of the band. The DVD compiles a live set from the “Assault Of Evil 2008" tour and a photo gallery from a show on the tour. Premiere US death metal cult GODLESS RISING have finished their highly anticipated new album for MORIBUND, Trumpet of Triumph.
